Laying On of Hands
Excerpt from Sunday Chat Line 05/13/01
In 1990 when I was traveling with a group of apostles and prophets, the Holy Spirit told me to have the established prophet of the group lay hands on me and stir up the gift within me. When the prophet prayed and laid hands on me, I felt nothing as I went and sat down in my seat. I thought maybe I had not done something right, or maybe the prophet prayed wrong because nothing had happened to me. The next morning as I began my prayer time, a voice came to me speaking in paragraphs about what would happen that day, what to watch for and many other things.
What had happened when the prophet laid hands on me? How was it possible for me to now hear God's word any time I needed to? I began to ask the Lord to teach me what had happened. Over a period of about eighteen months, God began to teach me from the scriptures what had happened. The first verse of scripture He revealed to me dealt with going beyond the elementary principles of Christ.
Therefore, leaving the discussion of How did Timothy receive this gift? He received it by prophesy and by the laying on of hands. You would think that this would satisfy my curiosity about what I had experienced in Midland, Texas, but I still had a few more questions for the Lord. What had happened to me? Why could I now prophesy to anyone that needed to receive a word from heaven? After the prophet laid hands on me something had happened and now I could hear God's voice coming in volumes of words, sentences and spiritual expressions that seemed to be endless when I ministered. I wanted to know from the Lord more about what had happened to me and why it had happened to me so that I could understand more about His kingdom and spiritual gifts.
