Excerpt from Sunday Chat Line 08/26/01

This subject is very important and if you come into agreement with these thoughts, it will give you peace and understanding. If you can swallow it, you will also find yourself walking free from the spirit of condemnation.

To have possession, according to Webster's dictionary is:
(1) act or fact of possessing
(2) state of being possessed
(3) ownership

Jesus Christ has gained possession of you through the shedding of His blood at Calvary. Webster defines the word possessed as (1) spurred or moved by a strong feeling, madness, or a supernatural power. The Holy Spirit spurred or possessed you to believe that Jesus Christ has possession of you because He paid for you at Calvary with His blood. Once you have come into agreement with the Spirit that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, your spirit is re-born. You are counted as one of Christ's possessions and your name will be written in the Lamb's book of life. (Ref. Revelation 21:27)

The only way you can lose your eternal salvation is to denounce Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Whatever else that you fall short of doing correctly in this life may cause you some pain, but not for eternity.

"All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day." John 6:37-39

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven." Matthew 10:32, 33

We can be saved from many horrible things in this life and from eternal damnation; however, we can only be born-again once. Salvation, according to Vine, comes from the Greek word, sozo- save or to be saved- of material and temporal deliverance from danger, suffering, from sickness, of spiritual and eternal salvation granted immediately by God to those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ; of the present experiences of God's power to deliver from the bondages of sin. Another Greek word used for saved or saving is, diasozo- to bring safely through, ...the healing of the sick by the Lord, were made whole, bringing safe to a destination, keeping a person safe, of escaping through the perils of shipwreck, to guard, to keep, preserve, save, alive. As you can see, salvation comes in many different packages. We can be born-again and be saved from eternal damnation, but we must work out a portion of our salvation on our own.

"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." Philippians 2:12,13

Salvation not only deals with the life hereafter, but this life as well. Vine defines- soteria, Greek for salvation as- deliverance, preservation, salvation of material and temporal deliverance from danger and apprehension, ......of the present experience of God's power to deliver from the bondage of sin, inclusively, ......to sum up all the blessings bestowed by God on men in Christ through the Holy Spirit, etc. Besides eternal salvation, there are many other areas of salvation offered to us by the Holy Spirit.

Knowing what part of your person the enemy is attacking, offers potential victorious strategy. First of all, we must understand that we are created in three persons the same as God is three persons in One. (Genesis 1:26) You have a body, that is ruled by your soul (mind, will and emotions) and you have a spirit. (Ref. I Thessalonians 5:23)

We can see that Jesus only did the will of God the Father. Jesus was and is the Word of God and the Word was God. (Ref. John 1:1) To say that the Word became flesh is to say God took on human form. (Ref. John 1:14) Now Jesus said, "If you see Me you have seen the Father." (Ref. John 10:30, 38 - 14:7) Jesus is the body representing the Godhead. The Father is the Soul (mind, will and emotions) of the Godhead. (Ref. John 1:18) The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Godhead. All three parts in One person: God.

You have a soul, body and spirit which cannot be separated except through death. Neither can God the Father, the Son, or Holy Spirit be separated, for they are too are intertwined as One. Your body obeys your soul, and your born-again spirit is in constant contact with the Holy Spirit as He makes the Father's word available to your soul. (Ref. Romans 8:16,17)

However, if we do not listen to our born-again spirit, we can miss God's best for us. Jesus was and is perfect. He fulfilled the will of the Father for the Father’s soul was within Him and ruled His body. He also was full without measure of the Holy Spirit, for God is Spirit. (Ref. John 4:24 & 6:34) Jesus was also the Son of Man, born of the flesh enduring all of the same temptations you and I have.(Ref. Hebrews 2:18)

Understanding that we are created in three parts allows us to see how the enemy is able to rob a Christian of God's promises. The soul of man is the battle field for spiritual warfare. There is a constant war over our souls between good (angelic) and evil (demonic) spirits. What we believe does affect the will and destiny that God has for our lives. However, if we have been purchased by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus), then we are HIS possession. He desires that we receive all of the promises that are offered in the Holy Scriptures. These blessings, from time to time, are offered to us by the Holy Spirit through our spirit. Our spirit makes these blessings available to our soul. If we can agree with what the Spirit is saying, we will receive the promise. Now, here comes the battle! After our soul has been offered the word of the Holy Spirit; immediately, Satan sends a demon to steal the word.
