A New Bible for Christmas

You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
John 5:39, 40

The ministry was in its startup phase and all the cost had depleted our finances and Christmas was just around the corner. Our Christmas tree was baron of gifts and we really did not expect that there were any on the way. It was rather sad; however, the work of the ministry kept my mind off the fact that I had nothing for my wife. Both of our Bibles were worn so it seemed that would be the ideal gift to give ourselves. So off to the local Christian bookstore we went only to find out that Bibles had really gone up in price. Making the decision to put them on lay-a-way it all seemed to be a good idea. So we gave what funds we brought and put that down with plans to pick them up Christmas Eve.

Preaching six days each week and running a small construction business made the days go by very quick. Ministering on radio, traveling and sending out prophesies through the mail we started to see a following of folks who were hungry to hear the voice of God. In that day most people thought we were crazy for making claims that God speaks to His people today. In fact some pastors considered us a threat to the church and did not want their people near us; well that just made for good advertising for us. Each Saturday morning I would be on the radio out of Dallas, Texas prophesying live over the radio to all who called into the station. During the week I would stop by at least one church each week and visit with the pastor. My plea was, if the pastor would allow me, to schedule a meeting in their church. The question was always the same, “What kind of meeting?” they would reply. A “Hearing Clinic” I would boldly announce; one pastor was very agreeable and I thought to myself, finally I am going to get to preach in a real church. Then he asked, “What kind of hearing aides are you selling?” As I began to explain what kind of ‘Hearing Clinic’ I was talking about I could see that his level of interest had withered away. Not discouraged I kept right on knocking on pastor’s doors with the same message. Although for the life of me

I could not understand why Pastor’s did not want their people learning to hear the voice of God. Finally I meet the Pastor who was going to set me straight and tell me where I was wrong. Just like so many other times I found myself standing in front of another Pastor’s door. As the door opened I made my introduction and began my spill on holding a ‘Hearing Clinic’ for the church congregation. The Pastor abruptly stopped me and asked, “So you think you can hear God?” and I replied with a confident YES! Holding his Bible under his arm he raised his voice and said, “Son the only way you can hear God is through this book!” Then the Holy Spirit told me to ask him if he was called to preach. So I asked the Pastor, “Reverend, were you called by God to preach?” “Bless God, Amen!” The Holy Spirit said, “Asking where his name is in the Bible!” As commanded I asked the Pastor, “Where did you read in the Bible that says you were called to preach?” Frustrated he step back and slammed the door in my face. I did not bother to knock on anymore Pastor’s doors and it was almost three years before I was asked to bring the message about Hearing the Voice of God. Oh, by the way, we did manage to get those new Bibles out of Lay-a-way; however, it was not until the middle of January.

How Do I Get Faith to Believe What God Says is True?

by Sandy Landry

Sally Landry
Author & Teacher

Well, you can’t manufacture it or pretend you have it hoping it will kick in one day. It is a gift from God. So, you can ask for it. Remember in the Bible when the man said, “Help my unbelief”? The

thing about faith is it is the main thing that pleases God. There is a verse which says that “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” So that means I could die as a martyr, but if I didn’t die in faith leaning on His direction, wisdom, and strength, I might have well just have thrown myself in front of a bus because it is faith that counts.

There is another verse that says that when Jesus comes again, He is going to be looking for one thing: faith. So it is a big deal.

And yet another one that says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” So I can get faith by hearing the word of God. When a prophet speaks to me the word of God, it can stir faith in me to believe. Then when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. It doesn’t make it easy to stay in faith. I am not necessarily skipping through the tulips. I may be pushed to the max battling fear every step of the way, but faith makes it possible to put one foot in front of the other one. It is the weapon I fight with. It is my shield. When doubt, fear, and accusation come at me, I can lift up my faith as a shield against them.

Many times the word of God carries us over. Imagine that you are climbing a mountain and you come to a tight rope that leads to the other side, and you know that Jesus is calling you to the other side. That tight rope is faith. It must be crossed in faith. If you have a word that you are going to make it to the other side and there is no other way across, you can be confident in God and the word of faith that you can make it. It still doesn’t mean that you won’t have fear or be shaking, but even in that faith gives you confidence. It is confidence in God’s abilities when we are weak, and by the way, we are always better off when we are we weak. That is when we need faith. Confidence in our own abilities is a snare.

What if you don’t have faith that you can go across and still there is the rope and you don’t know another way to get there and you just step out on the rope, hoping and wishing and praying. That is dangerous. God might protect you, but He is not obligated to. He backs up FAITH coming to us by HIS WORD. We can be presumptuous and call our own risking, “faith.” You can remember times when the Israelites went in to battle because it “worked the last time”, and God had not called them to do it, and he let them be defeated.

So your word is an opportunity for you to exercise faith. It is “hearing” that may bring you faith. If faith stirs inside you, you have been given a gift by God. Or if it hasn’t, you are welcome to ask God to give you faith to believe. You now have a tight rope to walk across from one mountain to the next, right into victory.

Christmas Gift

I had just returned from Norway and the first thing I am told is that our creditors are demanding payment of almost $87,000.00. We were ministering daily on 8 different television stations and three radio stations. With these expenses it did not take long to find ourselves underwater. Christmas was just a few days away and we did not have enough to take care of the monthly expenses so I called the ministries attorney. After explaining our situation our attorney walked me down the hall and introduced me to their corporate bankruptcy attorney, this is when the miracle began to take shape.

As the bankruptcy attorney began to talk, I could see his lips moving but I could not hear a word he was saying, I thought I had lost my mind. Then God spoke commanding me to go home and write a letter to each one of our creditors and attach a check for 12.93% of what we owed them and write on the back of the check that their endorsement is an acknowledgement to the letter agreement that is attached to the check.

As I drove home from Dallas to Fort Worth I recited in my head over and over the words God had told me to write in the letter agreement. When I opened the front door to our home my wife began asking me, “What all did the attorney say?” I just put up my hand and went straight to my study and began to type each letter individually to each one of the ministries creditors. After prorating each creditor’s total balance due by the 12.93% and writing out each check I brought the balance down in the ministries checkbook to see what we had left, the balance was less than $2.00. Each letter and check was dated December 20, 1996 after mailing them express mail with return receipt I was totally set free knowing that God would take care of everything. Even though we had no money for Christmas God had given us a wonderful Christmas gift.

It was not too long before I started receiving calls from our creditors; four out of six thanked us and agreed that we were paid in full. However, the other two wanted to take the funds and sue us for the balance. After turning our account over to their corporate attorneys they quickly found out that because they had accepted the check for 12.93% of the balance that the account was paid and full. Later we received letters from the two law firms apologizing for the company’s error indicating that the account was paid in full and deleted from their books.

For a few years I shared this testimony and those who followed the exact plan were successful in becoming debt free. However, in 2009 our government passed a law that barred this formula from being effective. But God has the last word and He can out maneuver the system anytime He so deems, all you have to do is Pray, Hear and Obey.

The Hambro’s Ranchette

We had been contacted by Ray Hambro one Saturday morning while we were broadcasting our live radio program from Dallas, Texas. We could not resist The Hambro’s offer to hold services at their place they sounded like solid Christian’s and we were ready to get out of the Metroplex. So in August of 1992 we found ourselves ministering in Jacksboro, Texas at the Hambro’s Ranchette.

They had set up an open air meeting, also referred to as a brush harbor meeting for us to minister under the open heavens. When we arrived they had a large brick outdoor pit cooking the meal for the evening. Over the hill everything was set up for the services with lights hanging in the trees. An awning made from old cedar post that had been erected and covered with branches from the area that had just been cleared. In the open area where unmatched chairs and few buckets and boards scatter about for the congregation to sit on.

After services, we all gathered in a big circle and began to pray under the stars. Everyone began praying at the same time some in tongues others in their natural language. In just a few minutes, the Lord spoke to me as clear as I had ever heard Him. He said, “Tell your wife she will be with child before the year is out.” I thought to myself maybe we’re not ready for a little one. Then He spoke again, “Tell your wife she will be with child before the year is out.” I had no choice so I turned to my wife and told her out loud for all to hear what God had said. She looked at me a little startled as did everyone else.

The rest of the year went by in a flash. It seemed we were everywhere ministering and then the year was over. New Year’s day, I recalled the word the Lord gave me that past August and thought, ole well I guess I missed that one.

Then one day, in February, my wife broke the news that she was pregnant. Needless to say I was in shocked. When the time came I raced to the hospital only to wait 36 hours before I could see my new baby Girl, Savannah. After seeing Savannah and visiting with her Mother everyone fell asleep so I decided I better eat something since I had not eaten in couple of days. Times were very lean and I had no money but I remember there was a Denny’s restaurant just across the highway from the hospital. I had seen a TV commercial where they offered a free meal on your birthday. So I placed my order after presenting my driver’s license to verify my birthday and that is when it hit me. Savannah was born on my birthday. Excited and wanting to tell someone, I told the waitress and to my surprise she told me she was born on her Dad’s birthday. I knew then that God must have great plans for Savannah and I still do to this day.

After the services were over a group of women served sandwiches, chips and drinks, when I sat down to eat the three men rushed over and sat down right across from me and wanted to know everything about the Holy Spirit. That night was my first Prophetic Evangelistic experience as recorded in First Corinthians 14:24,25 “But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you.”

As a final note I would like to dedicate this testimony to Ray Hambro of Jacksboro, Texas who went to be with our Lord Jesus just a few weeks ago. Ray touched thousands of lives for the glory of God; he will be missed.

Dear Kent,

You really touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes.

The fact that you have been praying for me, proves and displays Gods incredible love for me. Because if you, who just know of me a little, care so much, how much more does God care!!?? That’s just to hard to comprehend… But I choose to accept and believe. Thank you so much for allowing God to use your good heart to show His love for me!

Life has been very hard, and I have suffered a lot of despair and depression. But since I received some personal prophecies from you (6 of them, since last march), I have found a much hope and faith!

I’m still holding on to them in faith even though my situation looks worse than ever!! But I believe! 🙂

Thank you for encouraging me.

Love,
Gita from Norway

The Word of Knowledge

“…the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,…”

1 Corinthians 12:7,8

In 1991 our ministry took a group of people in our 15 passenger van to Nacogdoches, Texas to minister in the towns Senior Citizens Hall. After praise and worship was over I brought the usual 45 minute message then the fun part began. We passed around the congregation a large basket that was full of blank audio cassette tapes for each person to take one. Those of us who came to minister formed a line across the stage with each one of us holding a tape recorder. As the people came up with their tape in hand they would stand before each one of the ministers handing over their tape to receive a word. Everyone who came received at least 4 or more prophesies. However, I noticed there were three men on the front row who obviously did not want to be there and had refused to take a tape. With their arms crossed they sneered at us as we ministered, obviously not in agreement with what we were doing.

The last person in the line was a little old woman who had waited until the end of the service to come up for a word. As I ministered to her the Holy Spirit said, “Ask her about James, James Kay and tell her he is with me.” So I asked the little Women, “Who is James?” She said gruffly, “He’s my husband!” Again I asked looking for confirmation, “Who is James Kay?” Staring at me like I should know she replied, “Well, he is my husband!” Now I had all the information I needed to know I was hearing God clearly; boldly I said, “God wants you to know James Kay is with Him!” The Women broke out in tears; obviously James was not a very strong Christian but now she knew James would be waiting for her in heaven. Even the three angry men sitting on the front row knew James Kay and also believed there was no way I could have known James Kay except by hearing God.

By the gift of the Holy Spirit through the Word of Knowledge I was given the words needed to bless the little old Women and make believers out of three rough looking oil field workers.

Dear Kent,

That Word Sums up our experience almost totally and I find the same attitude or should I say Control as that is what it is .There was a time that I almost blamed myself that I could not fit, but now realize that there are people out there even trying to teach prophecy schools without the gift or knowledge. What I do wonder is that with the current economic slide that God will lead us into a new type of church and Words spoken over Lyn and I would suggest this in that there will be a new type of meeting place.

God Bless,
Gray and Lyn from New Zealand

“Hey Celeste… thanks so much for your kind words. Was awesome talking to you also… and at times, the greatest resistance I get is not from the devil, but rather from relicgious Christian leaders. It’s a uphill battle, but I’m ok… earlier this year prophet Kent Simpson prophesied to me that God would give me the footing to get on top of that mountain! Thank you always for your encouraging words… next time I visit SOH, I would like to bless you with a few photos of the Ark of the Covenant and Crucifixion Site scene of Jesus. Viva Jesús!!!”
