Greetings and welcome to CHAPTER 14 of the series “Getting Started Hearing His Voice”.

Please feel free to email me for back issues if you have missed one here or there! This week I recount more of the strange incidents which marked my experience as the Lord led me through an unprecedented time in my life. As you are trained in the prophetic, know that you too will land in uncharted territory. Your mind, will, and emotions will be tried and tested in ways you could not dream. But also know that there are others who have been there before you, and the Lord has a way of steering us to those who can help, as we rely totally on HIM. I have been particularly thankful for Kent’s help, as I know DJ has, too. This week you will learn more reasons why.

So today’s story surrounds how the Holy Spirit used strange experiences to intensify the training in DJ’s Boot Camp. As the scripture says, the Spirit searches the deep things of God. Strange occurrences became the norm, though in retrospect the Lord had spoken and prepared me for many of them into my journals ahead of time. There was a warning and then a whirlwind tour to my future home city in Texas. Then, back in California, the Lord set me up for a strange meeting with a local pastor in which “I inadvertently stumbled on” (translated: “the Lord showed me”) the reason why the prophetic was held back in our church. Next there was an emotionally devastating incident with a condemnatory “Mr. E” prophet. And as my training with DJ deepened, in December ’09, He gave a strange prophetic word with an even stranger outcome than most.

But I get ahead of myself. Today’s TYMES is pleased to introduce a special column from DJ Payton. As the Lord leads, DJ will begin sharing his testimony and insights in this newsletter. Chapter 14: Stranger in a Strange Land

Last week we left off just as DJ and I were about to make the discovery that we both intended to attend the memorial service for Kent’s Andrea, in Texas. Warned in my journals ahead of time, I knew I would be traveling that weekend, but had not known the circumstances. DJ was driving in from Florida; I was flying in from the San Francisco Bay Area. We hurriedly made travel arrangements and texted our whereabouts. We met up on the day of the service, and I quickly found out that seers don’t necessarily have a sense of geographic direction in the natural. Let’s just say we “toured” Dallas for 2 hours a little–lost. On a serious note, it was strange to meet both DJ and Kent in person for the first time in this way. We spoke to Kent briefly, just wanting him to know our love and respect. Before our departure, DJ and I had some time to compare notes on the prophetic, discuss our diverse pasts, and speculate over the prospects for the book project I was sending him to read, in email attachments, chapter by chapter. We marveled at the strange way the Lord had crossed our paths for purposes not yet revealed.

On my return to California, I was more convinced than ever that my days in the Golden State were numbered. Since 2008, the Lord had used my journals to point this California girl to the strange State of Texas; I just didn’t know when, how, or why. So many currents of activity swirled around me in those days. It was an exciting yet exhausting time, as I trained, worked my full-time teaching job, wrote up chapters of my manuscript, and just responded to all the strange new places the Lord was showing me.

The Lord led me through some strange experiences with opposition from the church world, first from my own church. Remember I had never belonged to a church which recognized the gifts. But I had reached the lesson in John Paul Jackson’s “Art of Hearing God” course in which I was assigned to interview my local church pastor. A pastor/elder agreed to meet with me. I was armed with a list of questions to ask, the goal being to find out what the church’s view on the prophetic was and why. The pastor explained quite candidly why, but then suddenly seemed flustered, and said he regretted telling me these things and asked me not to tell anyone why. So I won’t tell you why, readers. But know that this strange interview yielded the answers I had been half-expecting. Suffice it to say, the “D” and “P” words were not politically correct in this body and were not on the horizon in the foreseeable future. The Lord had given me to know my days at this fellowship were numbered, too, and I wrote to<

I would wait as long as you possibly can before leaving your fellowship or exposing your hand. The Lord still has something there for you to do; you will know when it is completed.

As for the downtrodden friend; I can say that God will tell you things to say from time to time that do not come to pass (read the book of Jonah again).You will see that God sometimes uses us as fish bait. It keeps us humble and serves HIS purpose; He really doesn’t care about our reputation, just getting the job done even if we do not understand it.

This was SO right on; I thank the Lord for Kent’s absolutely solid word of prophetic counsel. I followed it and ended up staying another year. The LORD gave me much to do. More on some of that later.

Another strange experience occurred when I requested a prophetic word from someone to whom I was led during my training with DJ. We will call this mystery prophet “Mr. E”. MR. E gave me words filled with accusation and even condemnation. I am not generally a weepy person, but I was devastated. Mr. E’s word challenged and condemned everything I had experienced in the supernatural. I wrote to this Mr. E and tried to explain what I had gone through in the Lord, but it was as if he did not believe me. This Mr. E word was a serious attack, but the Lord was faithful to see me through it. Thank the Lord once again for Kent. Here are the emails we exchanged. I record this to comfort anyone who has received an over-the-top condemnatory word which left a bitter and hopeless taste in the spirit. Here is what I wrote, and Kent’s reply. Dear Kent,

I guess I forgot to check in with this! Well, last week was more of the usual ho-hum exciting prophetic words with Dj. I am still working on his vast family.

But all this Mr. E… stuff cast a dark shadow over my Thanksgiving, though I know in my heart I am free. Mr. E… followed up our conversation and threw the book at me, spiritually, making all kinds of inferences. The Lord warned me not to answer the phone, that I was no verbal match for him. Thank God I didn’t have to! Ends up he wrote to me, anyway, and I see what the Lord meant.

The first letter recommended me to seek deliverance, as I “may” have, in his view “residue of demonic incursion.”

I wrote back and said, in a nutshell, that I know I am clean in Him, to Him be the glory, etc.

His second letter felt highly charged with emotion. It was filled with his discernment of all kinds of demonic activity he has sensed on me… My head was reeling from reading it. I would forward it to you, but it is just upsetting to see so much accusation unleashed. If you want to see it, I would be (un)happy to send it.

Bottom line for Mr. E… is that the Lord would never operate the way I described He has in my life, so it must be a demon, or as I just related, in his view, many of them.

I have now understood how you must feel as I am sure you have experienced these kinds of accusations from noble sounding, but I believe misguided Christians. The letter felt really ugly, dirty, and frankly I sensed a great deal of emotion in his second letter to me, warning that my blood was not on his hands.

I am so thankful for you, Kent. I am thankful He was faithful to send me to someone with the discernment and prophetic gifts you have. The scariest place to be is to accuse the work of the Holy Spirit to be something other than of God. I am thankful the Lord protected me from this type until I was strong enough to handle it in Him.

Tyane, I am sorry you are being bullied by this fellow. If I were you, I would not open any more of his mail and just forget it. I sure don’t care to read his rhetoric. I think I have already heard it all a thousand times or more.

E-nough said!

Now, I only joked that the training with DJ was “ho-hum”. In fact, it was never boring. In late December ’09, right before Christmas, the Lord gave our strangest word yet for DJ’s Uncle Ray. While receiving the word, it seemed too good to be true, “pie in the sky”. I remember distinctly being amazed at the Lord telling me that Ray was so extremely blessed, that he was going to get a new house and car in the coming year, that it was all for the better. It felt as if this Ray fellow had won the lottery. I shorten the full prophecy and condense our correspondence as I reprint it below. Can’t remember why I called DJ “Mad Dog” that day, but the date was 12/22/09, and DJ had sent the name “RAY” for training.

Dear “Mad Dog” DJ,

Ray’s faith has the power and strength of a simple declarative statement. For all the Lord’s children are given faith in some measure, but Ray’s is the gift of faith…

Ray is the kind of father who naturally hangs with the kids, who adore him. Indeed, Ray is the kind of person who makes everyone feel comfortable, such is his gift of hospitality. He is a spiritual stress reliever. Some would say, that’s just his personality, but in fact that personality is the fruit of a solid unshakable faith. And he has witnessed supernatural healings and prophetic utterance and this has left him no room for questioning the ultimate realities…

There is a relative he is helping financially. This will soon cease to be a necessity.

He will be rewarded with a number of financial and circumstantial blessings in the coming year.

I do hear house and car will be changed. This will all be for the best.

Ray, get outside in the sun and move about as much as possible. Heard you should walk your dogs, whatever that means! Seek additional training in your field. Make time for this. It is ok to take this time, I hear.

I was soon to find out that Uncle Ray was actually Reverend Ray, a well-loved pastor. Within 24 hours, on 12/23/09 I received this strange confirmation from DJ:

I just received a call from my mom… Rev Ray was reading his Bible and started to shake and then….

Thank you so much for spending time with the Lord for delivering these encouraging words to me that are very true. You are right on everything that you said. It is true I have three important things that i put before the Lord, the very important and first one being getting a job. I haven’t found the job yet but I will trust his word, i.e. it will be a deduction soon. You were right about the other two issues too, about me sneaking to peek on them everyday, that is very true but now I know that he deliberately hides them from me. It is amazing what you said about my prophetic gifting. I receive prophetic messages in dreams. Like you said everything is not to tell and there is timing for it too, these i am beginning to learn. I’ve tried to confront some of my families from what i received and some of the response is not good, so i am on training and learning. I am blessed by your words that are uplifing and I would like to say thank you again.

Chapter 1- Background and Introduction into the Prophetic

Greetings in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

My name is DJ and I am glad to be a part of PMT as I have been for many years as a partner. Now, Prophet Kent Simpson is a true prophet and a true friend. He reminds me of Prophet Amos…if I had to paint a picture of the character of Amos it would be Kent. Prophet Kent is a humble man and one who carries Heaven to Earth many times.

I am honored to bring Heaven to Earth with PMT by His grace. I will paint a picture of my prophetic journey and tell you about being disciplined (know a lot about that), misinterpreting Him (know a lot about that), hearing Him, what He loves, feeling things in the Spirit, journaling, how to rely a message, dreams, visions, angels, third Heaven visits, etc. A journey is the best word to describe learning to receive communications from the Holy Spirit because He is so patient and there will be good and bad days and up’s and down’s but through it all He will be there.

Before I begin telling my journey into the prophetic, let’s have an icebreaker. I am married to a wonderful and beautiful woman, Monica who is quite the prophetess by His grace. My children are: Gabrielle (10), Ovyel (4) and Sorayah (2). I love sports, cruising the oceans with my beautiful wife, Monica (addicted to big blue ocean), vacationing with the family, addicted to reading about the supernatural in church history, reading about the Desert Fathers and suspense movies. I am from Ocean Springs, Mississippi….about 5 minutes from Biloxi, yeah we don’t like folks named Katrina from where I’m from. It’s a nice place, down home kind of feel, sno’ cones (coconut is the best flavor) in the summer and homemade meals (fried chicken, fried catfish and shrimp, red beans, etc) with all the fixings. I hear your stomachs.

My childhood was the best, nothing beats the country! We rode bikes up and down hills, played with our guns in the woods, played all kinds of sports until we about passed out, fire cracker wars, high school football and basketball games and then there was church. Well, going to church was not an option, I was a prisoner in that regards. The warden, my grandmother came every morning to ensure I was clean and ready to report as ordered. I was at Sunday School every Sunday with 11:00 worship following. The church I went to was Freewill Missionary Baptist church. It was a typical southern black church with hells fire and brimstone preaching and getting folks saved was the only business. One time in church Rev B. asked whoever was saved stand up and I did not stand up. I feel like an outcast and it was not that I did not love God but the God they projected I wanted no part of. I sat there alone and the only one who did not stand up and I felt like the loneliest person in the universe. I was terrified of God!

This went on for years the church was a small building but eventually something supernatural happened. Rev B. was the pastor and the Lord has him draw a new church building sort of like Noah with the ark and Moses with the tabernacle. Rev B.’s background was Church of God in Christ so speaking on tongues was normal for him but he had to slowly incorporate that into the Baptist setting at Freewill.

Now the background before Rev B. was the church was ran by religious spirits. We had all kinds of board meetings and a board meeting in the South could mean deacons carrying pistols if things don’t go right…yeah that ain’t no typo I am from the DEEP south. Yes, it happened and Rev B. was confronted by a pistol for trying to change the church into some “holy roller” church. Now, that is a little background on Freewill. Let’s fast forward to my teenager years and encountering the prophetic.

Now in the South, revivals are common so one time there was a prophet coming to Freewill???? Night fell on a cool Mississippi summer night and my cousin Chris and I walked down to the church. I did not tell you the church was like 5 minutes away, I could never dodge the deacons and skip out. It was standing room only and this was before we moved into the new building Rev B. got in a vision and to my surprise a white guy came out in a colorful suit and he was CRAZY in my opinion. As usual, “people damned for hell” sits in the back of the revival…so my cousin Chris and I sat on the last row. I have never seen a prophet but this guy looked like a charlatan if I knew what that word meant back as a teenager. The service was in high spirits and people was falling out…and I was like why is this guy pushing people down, how rude. Anyway, the service went on and as I was daydreaming and thinking about playing basketball tomorrow, he pointed me out and said…tune in next week.
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love HIM.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”

A Prayerful Commitment to Kent Simpson and PMT

It was not long after I sent out my first mail order prophecy that I found myself being carried by God’s grace, especially when I thought I would be rebuked by a pastor for sending out prophesies to his parishioners. Within just a few short months, I had saved money and had one of my friends, who later became one of my brothers-in-law, work up an ad to look just like what God had showed me. That ad is the picture in the opening of this week’s story.

Taking a deep breath, I sent the ad to Charisma Magazine then immediately went to work putting back enough money to pay for the next month’s ad. The wait for publication seemed to take forever. When I finally saw the ad in print, I felt I had really accomplished something great. That first month, not many people wrote in, but I did not lose sight of what I was doing, being obedient to God. The results were not my problem, nor did the measure of success dictate whether I continued running the ad. After a couple of months, we began to see the demand increase and it was becoming more difficult to balance doing the prophesies and continue working at my job; I knew then it was time to make a big decision. I wanted to give up my small business, but Andrea and I were to be married soon and I could not see myself quitting as the ministry generated a huge monthly expense with no income to offset the cost. A few months had gone by and Andrea and I were finally married and moved into our new home. I continued to keep the pace, building a new and controversial ministry as well as working a full time job.

Then one day after coming home early from work, God began to deal with me about giving up my business and concentrating full time on the ministry. For the rest of the day, God and I had a back and forth discussion. I would remind Him that I just got married and my wife will think I am a bum if I close down my small business. He came back with the story of Elisha and how he broke down his plow, made a fire, and sacrificed his oxen as a symbol of his commitment to follow after the God of Elijah. Well, I knew what I had to do but did not know how my wife was going to take it. In a short time, she came home and she had a very strange look on her face. I was as nervous as cat on a tin roof, fearing she would break down when I told her what I had agreed to do.

Andrea came in from working that day and revealed that God had spoken to her heart. I patiently waited to hear what she had to share with me. She began with something like, “I’ve told you I didn’t want you to become a minister after seeing all my Dad had gone through as a pastor, but God has changed my thinking, and you need to quit your job.” I was in shock, fumbling around trying to find my words. She stood stunned as I told her about the experience I had encountered with our Heavenly Father. We both celebrated and where ecstatic that we were about to take on a huge financial loss.

As Andrea would leave each day to work at her business, cleaning houses, I would go to the post office to pick up requests for prophesies, return home and began seeking God for His Word. One day I received a phone call that shook me to the core and at the same time gave me relief.

A Charisma Magazine executive called me and informed me that they were going to have to pull my ad. Baffled, I ask him why. He began to tell me that pastors from all over were calling and writing their office threatening to pull their subscriptions and tell their followers to do the same if they didn’t pull my ad. When I asked what the problem was, he revealed that company had no issue with the ad, but that a few pastors believed I was using my gift for financial gain. I resisted the urge to lose my temper over the phone reminding him that we only ask for a love offering, and thus far we had not received enough “love” to pay their monthly charge of $386.00. He said he was sorry, and I let it go. Relieved, knowing I would not have to come up with the funds for the next month, I found myself telling our Father that I had done all I could and that now the problem was his.

To my surprise the ad was in the next month’s issue. I just thought maybe someone made a mistake. However, when the next issue still had the ad I was totally perplexed. Then in a few days I received another phone call and it was the Manager for Carman, a Christian artist, and he said, “You will never know why your ad is still running unless someone tells you.” Then he proceeded to tell me that the editorial and sales staff for Strang Communications, which owned Charisma and many other publications, wrote in anonymously for a prophecy tape from you. He continued to tell me that he was there the day they all sat down at the huge boardroom table with their tapes in hand. As they passed around the tape player, they each played their prophecy and the others judged the Word. He reported that no one at the table had a dry eye; they cried and made a prayerful commitment they would NOT pull the ad as long as they owned the magazine. After 5 more years, I finally asked Charisma to pull the ad, because there were too many requests to keep up with each month.

Before I sent out the first prophesy tape our Heavenly Father had made a promise to me. The promise was… (To be continued in next Saturday’s e-Newsletter)

Don’t Be Alarmed When Trials Come

Why shouldn’t we be alarmed when trials come upon us? Why are we told not to flinch or be surprised when they come? Here we are, floating down the stream “merrily, merrily, merrily,” and then suddenly “whammo,” we hit a tree stump or an alligator, and we feel we are about to capsize, and we’re going down.

It can be terrifying, and yet the more certain we are that we are loved by our Father in Heaven and He is for us, the more we can rest knowing it can be an adventure and a positive experience. Our lives should be exciting, like starring in Raiders of the Lost Ark. We know our hero is in trouble a few times, but we also know he is going to come out on the other side, successfully.

Trials are exercises in faith, a time for stretching and strengthening the muscles of faith and courage, and a little test for us to see where we are on the journey to trusting God and believing that He is good and His intentions toward us are always good. He doesn’t send the alligators, but he is more powerful than Tarzan in dealing with them, if we let Him.

It is amazing what God will do to get you to sit down and listen to him for just a minute.

Let me explain. I thought I had a doctor’s appointment in Dallas this morning and wanted to listen to my favorite music CD on the drive downtown. Once on the road, I realized my music was not in the car… but I did have Kent’s CD on Spiritual Impartation. That was even better.

I listened to Kent all the way. When I got down to Baylor, my appointment had to be rescheduled so I had to drive all the way back home. Wasted drive? Not in the least. Kent’s words provided so much more confirmation to add to the prophetic word he shared with me this month. I think God had made a way to slow me down to listen to him.

Kent, your willingness to speak God’s word is saving so many people’s lives. I’m ready to fight “the good fight” once again after being so encouraged.

I didn’t realize until the next day that Kent was an answer to prayer for me. With many issues weighing me down, I had asked the Lord to allow me to speak to a “Man of God”. Wow, did he answer my prayer. I really thought that when I asked for this in prayer and later had an interview with the folks at Benny Hinn, I would run into Mr. Hinn if I took a job and he would have a word for me. Not so. I was surprised. God answered my prayer in a way I would never have expected.

I have had more energy this week and been far more focused than I’ve been in 2 years. I feel ready to stand again.

Television vs. Holy Bible

The Television Age began around 1947. It is estimated that a person born since then will, by the time he is sixty-five, spend NINE YEARS of his life, that’s about 80,000 hours, sitting in front of the TV! By contrast, if a newborn infant were taken to Sunday school the first week of his life and never missed a Sunday until he is sixty-five, he would spend less than FOUR MONTHS in Sunday school.

Dear Readers,

Greetings, again! If you are joining us for the first time, be aware that there has already been quite a bit of water under the whale’s belly. Back issues are available, or visit my page on FB and scroll backward 13 weeks!

Today’s article deals with how I received my first prophetic word -in training- on behalf of another.

You will see it was not an earth-toppling word to the nations. It was a homely word, for a child. You will see that the Lord graciously gave me some words of knowledge, and in so doing wonderfully gave me greater expectations that spurred me on. You will also see that I made mistakes. You will see how I interacted with my mentors, who pointed me constantly to the Holy Spirit! There was accountability, and much encouragement from my flint-faced but loyal friend, DJ. Reporting to Kent weekly brought the week’s prophetic boot camp into a succinct perspective, and I appreciate and honor him for the way he always answered my emails, despite all of the personal crises going on for him at that time of which I had no knowledge.

Why am I sharing all of this with you? Kent and others have said that many times those with an interest in the prophetic most likely have a revelatory gift themselves. You too can be trained and equipped by the Holy Spirit to hear in the way He has designed for you. Your training may not “look like” mine-or Kent’s. But know if you will pray, hear, and obey the Lord,He will give you the revelation you need, as His sheep do hear His voice. As a child in HIS house, you need only begin to ask, seek, and knock.

“Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

Chapter 13: A Child in His House

Last week I concluded the narrative at the moment when I was receiving my first prophetic word for an individual. You may recall how the Lord led me to DJ through a free prophecy website, and as the Lord would have it, DJ was someone well-known to Kent. The Lord started him out early, with dreams and visions. At one point when he was about 18 years old, DJ had purchased all of Kent’s teaching materials. I had to admire a zeal like that, in a young person. But just how young was he? Before the picture arrived, DJ sent me an email:

“I just had a weird thought. Were you wondering how old I am? I am 30 years old.”

We exchanged photos and had a good laugh over our demographic differences. I learned this “whippersnapper”, as I called him, was born in Mississippi and was from a similar heritage as the lady about whom I’d started to write that book…remember that one in the attic?

Anyway, regarding the training: after receiving the first three names from DJ, I sat and stared for a while, prayed, and then began to see some images and hear some words. I scribbled them down quickly. After doing so, I thought, “This was too easy; there’s got to be more…” I decided to get up early and pray again, hoping to receive more revelation. The Lord’s hand got me up at 2:45, and off I went to the studio where I prayed and waited and scribbled again. In the end, I heard nothing essentially new from what I had heard the previous day. So I went to the computer and typed out the visions and words and sent an email to DJ. “Monica” was first name on the list. Here is that first training session, reprinted below:

Subject: Monica

Monica is a child in My House. She is a beloved daughter of Dj. She is laughter and fun, a bit of a tomboy, tumbling down hills, running and skinning her knee. This girl is a caretaker. She has an animal hospital and wants to be a doctor or nurse someday.

But I will call her to be a caretaker of My people. Surely in the dark times ahead she will speak words of light and My abundance to many.

Monica has not always had the most stellar academic career. Trips to the library or joining a book club will help in developing her ability. Find the topics she likes to read and watch what will happen. Never doubt that the impediment to learning can be fixed. For if I can speak through My people, then surely I am able to help them to read, provided they come in faith and ask in My name.

Monica will teach her family how to flow in an unbroken stream of energy, She will love in the same way, and at times will need parental help as she will be quite vulnerable emotionally.due to her openness.

But I say she is mine. Her parents must teach her to find quiet time. Read a simple story of me to her. Just read quietly and pray and watch what I will do.

This little child is a reminder to all to laugh and be free. For My good pleasure is to give My children the Kingdom.

This joy will follow her always.

Dear Dj,

Thank you for taking the time… I know He wants me to learn from this and it is very strengthening to my faith to learn that there was truth in this, as I really did feel I was flowing in the Spirit. This is the first time for me.

Well, to retrace my steps, when I first read the three names, the Spirit said that one was a daughter.

I decided (first mistake) to start with the first one on the list. I see now I needed to ask more who it was for. AFTER I FINISHED, I remember I had a sense that Gabrielle was also a daughter.

I heard it fragmented-not always complete sentences, I cannot say for sure that I heard the name Monica repeated so many times or at all, as I filled in the fragments to make sentences. HMMMM. Yes… I tended to add in the pronouns and make complete sentences as I went along, danger there. I took it down on a notepad in scribbles and then typed it this morning.

SO, I think the lesson here is to listen and ask for sure who it was for. I think I should have asked who HE wanted to talk about first.

Wouldn’t you know it would be the child!

I will go on with the others in the next few days, Lord willing.

1. She is full of joy and laughter.
2. She plays soccer and is a tomboy.
3. She is a care giver. She cares like a mother for her sister.
4. She got a prophecy from Kent about being a doctor.
5. She is very emotional and open. A sensitive soul.
6. Loves to read!!!!!! She is only 7 but reads on a 4th grade level!!!!!

You did excellent!!!!! You have a strong word of knowledge. Normally that is the first gift God uses prophetic people in.

All right! I had learned a few new things with the first training. Slowing down would turn out to be a problem for me, but the Lord is patient, and He had sent me someone patient and encouraging to help me as well. I did not delay writing to Kent.

There have been some developments today (actually starting at about 3 AM) which have been exciting for me and which I wanted to share with you.

Dj occasionally writes me; he has been given many true words from me over the few months I have known him.

Since Monday, he unexpectedly sent me some of his favorite links, some words, etc., and then offered to help me if I wanted to get some “practice” in giving words for people. He said he wouldn’t show them, but just let me know how I did.

He gave me a list of three names. I decided to start with the first one.The Lord woke me up about 2:45 and I spent about an hour, first praying, then scribbling phrases down. Even some scriptures. I typed it this morning, adding in some pronouns and rounding out the sentences so they agreed with the sense of it. He wrote back immediately and said “That is so accurate” but was I sure that was for Monica and not for Gabrielle, his daughter. For I was led to write about a little child. It was definitely a child I was hearing about.

So I think I have learned something from this.

1. I should let HIM decide who He wants to talk about first.
2. I need to be careful inserting pronouns and names.

But all in all, I was very amazed to be used in this way. The Lord has been dealing so much with the need for me to turn over the rest of the soul stuff that is clogging up my hearing.

I told HIM it has to be HIM doing this because I am helpless. And I believe He is starting.

DJ said he pestered you a lot over the years as he is still learning a lot and said he is your Elisha.

I told him I hope I am not Gehazi.

Dear Prophet Simpson,

It has been quite a week for me. For the last three mornings I have been up at 2:30 or so and then for the next 1 1/2 to two hours had quite interesting times of prayer and hearing. I seriously have never done this on behalf of someone else before; just did the journals for the past year, almost exactly one year.

Dj said the words have been amazingly accurate.

I have learned a lot already…mostly about how I rush to assumption and still need to quiet the soul down, in fact I don’t even trust my soul to be quiet; it just has to get crushed for the Spirit to do its work. Any advice you have, I most humbly welcome.

It is so serious to get this right.I was always a straight A student all the way through college. (Bad for my soul, good for my desire for accuracy). The LORD is teaching me the need to go deeper and deeper in reliance on HIM.

Anyway, that was the week at Dj’s Boot Camp.

(How long does boot camp usually last?? Just kidding. I think I already know the answer to that one.)

Hello Tyane,

Perfecting the gift of prophecy, word of knowledge and wisdom are a life long on the job training. I have said it many a time; “It is not enough to hear God’s voice for you must know what He means.”

Day after day, DJ sent me names and I sought words from the Lord for them. In DJ’s family were names like: “Top Dog”, “Junior Boy”, “Pinky”, and “Gingerbread” (or just “Bread” for short!). Of course these were not the actual names on their birth certificates. The Lord knows who they are! Early on in the training, I learned just how detailed DJ’s confirmations of the words would be.
Here is one example:

Confirmations:

1. she smokes
2. she has a defense system. She is single and her defense system is efficient
3. she can be mean to others, very bossy
4. she is deeply wounded. Her parents were very strict. She went to a boarding school when she was younger. I sense she is very much neglected.
5. I tell her she needs God to come heal her wounded heart. She is resistant. One day I think I broke through telling her my testimony…she wanted to know how did this happen if God is in control.
6. She is nervous and edgy. She takes medicine for being hyper.
7. This one you speak of she needs to move on from is her ‘friend’. It seems he is using her. They are not a couple but they ‘see’ each other. She chases behind him like a little puppy.
8. I do see her as a kitten, she can be sweet and she is frail at times. If you say the wrong thing she will break down.
9. She is moving within the month…wow! She is actually measuring her apartment as we speak on her lunch break.
10. she is very short and little stocky but not too much

(Her parents are living but she did lose a brother in law that was very close to her. That was probably what you were picking up. She considered her brother in law a brother.) What you do is, if it is vague, say it in a question form. I have missed it like that. Sometimes, I will say, if it was vague, ‘I sense a lost of some type’ and let it opened ended.

You were so accurate and it was done in love. T, wow!!!! The Lord is really stirring your gifts up… I sense your hunger now. God will do that to you…

Things shall continue to move fast. It is like going from the 1st grade in the Spirit to the 12th grade in a very short time.

The prophetic definitely has a price! Any prophet you meet, they ALL have a story of lack, frustration b/c God shares His glory with nobody! Prophets are some of the most broken, sensitive people. I think God has it that way…so we won’t get the BIG HEAD.

I like books of the NDE too!!!!! You are like my spiritual MOTHER…or OLDER SISTER…is that better LOL…I take everything with a grain of salt…some might be true others not sound doctrine

All in all, I was enjoying it immensely. Training was never a dull moment.

Anyway, there have been more words and accuracy and some very interesting developments as the Lord showed me a few very specific things about him…

NOW Dj has asked me to pray and write out a word for him; this will be the first time. I am waiting a bit and fasting as I ask on this.

Please pray for HIS total clarity and what HE wants to say to this young man to come forth. Thank you, and for the discs.

After seeking a word for DJ, and uncovering some interesting personal information, including that he was about to be a father again (the Lord knew!), I felt I knew DJ well enough to ask if he would be willing for me to send him the story from my attic of the lady I had befriended so many years before. She had flowed in a prophetic gift and had grown up in Louisiana.

He agreed to read the story. I sent him a picture of me and the lady. He was intrigued. So it was that in addition to the prophetic training, I daily opened up Microsoft Word and began typing out the chapters of a long forgotten manuscript in an old spiral notebook.

Where was all of this going? Only the Lord knew. One day, DJ wrote and informed me Kent’s wife Andrea was sick, very sick. I had not known! Prophet Kent had given so much of his time to me…and I had not known….It was shortly after that that we were notified that she had gone on to glory.

Within hours, DJ and I made the discovery that we both….

The very next day Pastor Gill Hawks from Rockwall, Texas called and he introduced himself. Squeezing the phone with one hand, the nails on other were digging into the counter top as I waited for a harsh tongue lashing. He started mentioning that one of his parishioners had requested a word, and he had listened to it. As my anxiety peaked, to my surprise he said, “I would like you to send me four prophecies, one for me, my wife, and two sons.” Within a couple of days I found time to record what I heard from our Lord and mailed the prophecy tapes right away. I had not told anyone about what I had been doing with the newspaper ad or that I had received request; I really did not think they would understand. I prayed, asking God if He would allow me to stop running the ad before someone found out.

It was a Wednesday night and it was my turn to bring the message at our local church. As I sat in the church pew studying my bible my Senior Pastor Ray Thompson came to me and said, “There is a Pastor Gill Hawks from Rockwall, Texas here and he wants to talk with you.” You guessed it; fear was climbing all over my head again, as perspiration began to cover my forehead. Not knowing really what Pastor Hawks was going to say, my mind filled in the blanks with vision of him attacking me with gnashing teeth and lashing tongue; I needed a solution and fast. Then it came to me! Pastors love to preach and teach, so I will defuse his anger by asking him to take the pulpit in my place. My Pastor agreed with a questioning look on his face, but I did not give up any information about why I was making this unusual request. Pastor Hawks was truly blessed that I asked him to take the pulpit; I felt all was okay now.

After everyone was seated, I introduced Pastor Gill Hawks and handed over the microphone. Before I could sit down he started off with the ad he had run across in the Christian Monitor, a newspaper for the Dallas, Fort Worth Metroplex area. Then Pastor Hawks began to tell about calling me up and requesting four prophecy tapes, one for himself, his wife and two boys.

As I began to melt in the pew sliding slowly downward my Pastor turns around in his pew just a few rows ahead of me and glared holes through me. It seemed as though the entire congregation turned looking at me with expressions that communicated a vast array of thoughts. After Pastor Hawks gave his report about his prophecy being so wonderful, I began to straighten up; I felt myself sitting tall in the pew. Pastor Hawk’s wife was with him, and he gave a raving report about her word as she gave a continual nod of approval throughout his report. By the time he had finished his account of the accuracy of his son’s prophecy tapes, the people and Pastor of my church were actually smiling at me. It was great and I was blessed how everything worked out; and then God spoke to me telling me that He wanted me to do next.

God Never Intended that We Feel Like Victims

God never intended that we feel like victims. Things don’t happen to us and we have to wonder why so many ills are befalling us that God doesn’t care about us or that He has forgotten about us. He has destined us to be “more than conquerors.” We can be calm in a storm, as He was, knowing that if we are choosing His purposes in our lives, He can calm the sea in an instant, or else He can teach us some fancy maneuvering through the waves.

I remember reading a short story years ago where the protagonist was about to be drowned at sea and he was railing at the “gods” as to why was he allowed to get so close to land if he were going to be drowned anyway. That is a victim mentality-railing, self pity, bitterness, and a belief that the “gods” are capricious. No matter what circumstance we find ourselves in, to conquer means to ride it out, in faith knowing that God is for us. When we settle that we believe that He intends us good, we either get the boat to safety, or we know that even if we drown in the storm, He will scoop down and bring us into safe harbor with Him forever. We win, we win, we win!

I wanted to write to thank you for your ministry. A friend introduced me to your ministry when his brother sent for a word for him some time ago. I know this brother really well and was surprised with the clarity you spoke concerning his situation. He sent for a word for me shortly after that time. I was surprised how you really described the things that were going on in my life. I have the word saved on my desktop of my computer. It inspired me to send for a word for a good friend of mine. His reply to the word that he had for him was “awesome” and it spoke to him concerning the situation he found himself in at the moment. The funny thing was the discussion that we had before the word came… God is so good.

The word you had for my twin brother was so right on…the Lord described him to a “T’ and the current situation he was going through… it was uncanny but I have been praying that God would speak to him. The Lord is setting his life into a new way because of the word that was spoken.

I can’t say thank you enough for the Word of Wisdom you have given me. To say that I have been stressed over the decision to apply for Officer Candidate School or stay in the civilian world would be an understatement. I’m 28 years old and a female, so it seems like it would be a crazy decision for me to join the Marines and become an officer at this point in my life, but it has been something I have wanted to do for some time now. I was also concerned that if I joined the military that I would be “unavailable” for the Lord to use me. I have such a desire to serve the Lord and I want to follow the path he has for me. I know He needs servants in all walks of life and I look forward to seeing how he can use me in my future endeavor.

Just an FYI. I’m in the process of applying for Officer Candidate School. (It is quite a lengthy process) I hope to be accepted in the October Class, Class 211. I still have to take the written exam, I’m hoping to get into flight school, and then my physical fitness test. I have been battling leg injuries, stress fracture and now shin splints, that have been keeping me from training, so please keep me in your prayers for healing!!!

DARE to TRUST GOD

There is something very scary about giving up the choices we have in life. No one likes the thought of becoming a puppet on a string. However, we do not seem to give it much thought when the doctor prescribes medicine, telling us it will make us well. We appear to have no problem in taking the medication, believing that we can trust the doctor’s advice. Even knowing that there are a number of possible side effects, we normally do not hesitate in taking the prescribed medicine anyway. So, it makes one wonder why we have such a problem trusting God, knowing all that He has already done for us. Our Father is the essence of love. He who cares enough for us that He gave His Son Jesus to die for our sins so that we may not perish in hell for eternity. It is the carnal Christian who turns to everything and everyone but God when trouble comes knocking. On the other hand, it is the true believer who will.

Allowing God to take the controls and do as He so wills in our life is a major step of faith. We confess Jesus to be Lord of our lives, yet when we pray we seem to always be found telling God what He needs to do for us rather than asking Him what He desires. I dare you to trust God and cast all your cares over to Him, then wait and see what He will do. The hard part is waiting; being that we live in a microwave society we expect to see God move now. However, God is not controlled by time, for He who is eternal has no concern for time. We too are eternal, and time should not control our lives. It is amazing how much stress is heaped upon us when we sit watching the clock and calendar. We can lose our health over worrying about deadlines. Chill out; give it to God. Chapter 12: Expecting the Unexpected

Dear Readers,

Greetings, again, and today’s installment is dedicated to our Lord, who is the Revealer of secrets(Daniel 2:27) and who is the Master of the unexpected revelation. At just the right time and place, He is always giving us just what we need to move on-provided we have the eyes and ears and heart to seek Him.

I did learn once again the “importance of being “earnest”- to borrow a play title!-that summer! There were many crosscurrents of influence, and as I strained to figure out where His tide was taking me, He was right there all the time, making sure I landed just where I needed to be.

The Lord would have me honor the extravagant way in which so many in the Body of Christ have shared their time, prayers, and love and concern for me-ONLINE-during this whole process. I can truly attest that the Lord raised up an unusual support and mentoring group for me, in a very confusing time, in a way that could not have been achieved by any other ministry in which I participated on a local level.

Kent, Adam, DJ, Sandy, and so many others—except for the internet, these were total strangers who did not know me from, well, Adam. So it is with Spirit-led internet ministry. However, we share His Holy Spirit and calling, and that’s all it takes for Him to make the connection as He does the work. It is amazing how He mutually strengthens and and equips us, defying barriers of time and space. These friendships have led each of us to a greater fellowship with Him and a greater empowerment in His love than we had when we started.

“And I have declared to them Your Name, and will declare it, that the love with which You have loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

Chapter 12: Expecting the Unexpected

In case you are new to this series, this is an account of an incredible 3 ½ year season in my life during which the Lord explained a whole lot about the prophetic and my part in it. When we left off last week, I was in the midst of giving a violin lesson when something strange happened.

As best as I can describe it, I became very aware of the Lord’s presence and was suddenly filled with an intense desire to pray. After the lesson, I ran into the bathroom (which, as we know from Kent’s article last week, can often serve as a Tent of Meeting!) and started to pray and felt a physical sensation like tingling and heaviness and joy all at once. It was unusual and unexpected, as I had never had any physical sensation during prayer before. Whatever had blocked this manifestation, suddenly became UNblocked. It was wonderful to enjoy God’s presence and feel His love in this way.

One day that summer, the Lord brought before me some unfinished business from my past. I remembered that I once promised a Christian friend that I would write and publish her life story. She had been a street preacher in San Francisco in the ’40’s. Where was the manuscript? I had laid it aside in 1981. She passed away in 1989… Somewhere there were the original notes I’d saved from the ’70’s as well… Somewhere in the attic of our 1907 home, the manuscript still existed. Now I am no Indiana Jones. How I dreaded facing the inevitable cobwebs and rat droppings. I climbed into the attic crawl space and switched on the light and rummaged around. Found it! Right there and then I prayed over the old spiral notebook. If the Lord still wanted this written, it was His concern to make it happen. I was available. That was that.

You will recall I had mailed for a prophetic word from Rev. Adam Larson. I did not hear from him for a while, and I wrote to him wondering if he had received my request. His reply was a lesson in itself of the importance of being in God’s timing:

I see college in your sights! I’m not sure what that means maybe you do!

You want to be safe, and I will give you my peace and my peace carries my safety with it.

This all rang so true. I did want to be safe, as all of this prophetic was uncharted territory, and I was intrigued by the “college” in my “sights”. I did not know what it meant but I loved the idea; it resonated with my spirit. It had been several decades since I had darkened the door of an institution of higher learning. Well, I was game if this was what God wanted. With the extra time available to me during summer vacation, I confess that I indulged myself trying to “figure out this word”. School started in late August or September. Was the Lord indeed sending me to Bible School? Or was there a prophetic school nearby, in California perhaps, that I just had never heard of…

For several weeks I researched to see if I could any schools of prophetic knowledge nearby that could be considered “college”. Geographically I did not feel led away from my work as a music teacher in California. Yet I knew there was something the Lord was trying to tell me in this, a direction to go, a new place of learning. Here I was surfing again, perhaps trying a little too hard to figure out a prophecy… looking for this “college” in my “sights”. However, there was lasting fruit to this search, as after a few weeks I found a school in Redding, California at a church called Bethel. They had a School of Supernatural Ministry, and the more I read and heard about this ministry, the more I found common ground with all I was experiencing and learning. I began to study books by Bill Johnson, and hoped for a day when I could attend his School. I was curious as to the exact address, and found that it was:

933 College View Drive; Redding, CA.

Discovering this address for Bethel, and having the confirmation from Rev. Adam’s word, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of God’s peace and presence. Bethel was, and has continued to be, a real “college” in my “sights”. But the Lord had even more ways to unpack Adam’s prophecy. In the fall of ’09, practically speaking, there was an even more intriguing fulfillment directly ahead, a new level of personal “college” training I never could have invented or “googled” if I had tried.

You will recall the “whale on a plate” guy, DJ! He had a way of showing up in my email inbox quite unexpectedly, even dramatically.

Hello my friend. How are things? How are you doing? What is the Lord doing for you and all through you? I sense this is a season of excitement for you. Yes, excitement, for why others are counting their losses and setbacks, you are counting your blessings!!! and the Lord is pleased and approved you for more blessings because you are thankful and humble… for He shows mercy on who He wills… He does what He wants and He says He shall show mercy on you. I see the Lord pick up a penny off the ground… The Lord says He is the God of multiplication. Many things do not make sense… for the miracle with the bread and the fishes didn’t make sense… and how I shall make your ends meet… shall not make sense to the one holding the calculator says the Lord. I shall come and I shall provide for thee. I shall provide for thee….I shall provide!!!!!!! (I feel the fire of God)!!!!!!

Certainly DJ had no way of knowing that I am one my family teases about finding pennies, stooping to the ground and picking them up, and not letting one go by. To me, picking up a pennies symbolizes finding a blessing in even the lowliest thing that crosses my path. I wrote back and confirmed this word. Then once again, this mysterious DJ disappeared…

By September I had begun occasionally to go into a trance, a very deep state of consciousness, when writing in my journal or praying. One Sunday I was a bit concerned and wondered if this was right or not. I began to research the subject. I found some articles online and started reading.

On that same Sunday evening, the Lord led JR and me to make an unexpected discovery: our next door neighbor, a mild-mannered landscape gardener, invited us into her home and disclosed to us that she did “trance-work” and that she had a degree in Celtic Shamanism. How uncanny that the Lord had led me into these trances and even study right before meeting her… I wrote to Kent after this particularly strange experience happened:

These words have brought fresh insights into the things I need to call forth into their lives (right now they are both wandering in the wilderness with no direction, no hope and I have resigned to the fact that only prayer will make a difference) and also confirmed some of what I have already discerned. You have a very clear and concise way of expressing what you receive from the Lord, which I value. It is very frustrating to receive a word, then have to try to decipher what is being said. I have also enjoyed reading your weekly digests on your journey into the prophetic. The key takeaway for me is that He who begun a good work will be faithful to complete it. As long as we’re hungry and seeking, we will step into the things that He has prepared for us… He will guide.

My Dear Sister Ty

WOW! Thank you so much. This was an amazing Word and it came exactly in the time that it was badly needed !!!

I Praise God for speaking through you as this was exactly what i was asking the Lord to show me what gifting He has placed in me (if any !). Yes i felt as if ive been ‘misunderstood’ and ‘misdiagnosed’.

Yes there has been infirmities and fears in the family line that i’ve escaped from by God’s grace and I often pray over my hands for a healing ministry.

I do have a loving mate who is a Prophet, Pastor and Teacher. I live in Kuwait and my home is blessed as it is a place of worship and service. Even Today we have church in our home.

At our service on Friday my husband called forward volunteers who would like to join worship and dance ministry. A prophet who came over last month said that he saw a Children’s ministry and another saw a women’s ministry when they prayed for me. This is now a wonderful confirmation from the Lord Praise God.

Mail Order Prophet

How It All Started

As I recall it was the early part of November 1989, I walked into my home to make a quick lunch before returning back to work. As I ate my lunch, I turned on the television and to my surprise saw a commercial advertising a 900 number to call in for a reading from a psychic. Focusing in on every word, I watched intently, wondering what in the world it was. Right after the commercial ended, God spoke. To my amazement He said, “I want you to do that!”

Stunned, I questioned our Lord, first checking to make sure it was His Spirit according to 1 John 4:1-5. I knew that God was against anyone operating under the spirits that psychics use to do what they do (Ref. Deuteronomy 18:9-14). What was He wanting me to do, go on television, get a 900 number, or just offer myself as a vessel for Him to speak through? I was already giving face-to face prophesies. To give someone a word from our Lord and not be able to see them or touch them seemed impossible.

For the next few days, I wrestled with this experience. There were so many variables of what He could be wanting me to do, I questioned, “do I really want to do this?” As I was praying a few days later, the Holy Spirit reminded me of Jacob who wrestled until his hip was taken out of socket. Not wanting to put myself into a similar position, I surrendered to the call and tested it.

Starting with the only form of exposure I could financially afford, I made myself available to the people for a prophetic word through a small ad in the Metro Christian Monitor, a local Christian Newspaper. The ad read; For your word of knowledge or wisdom in this life time call ___ ____. The first issue the ad ran was November 1989.

Approximately 3 days later, I received my first phone call. I was so nervous; I did not know what I was going to do. The man said he wanted a word for his wife and himself. Not feeling the presence of God anywhere, I froze; however, to put their request off, I quickly asked the man if I could send him and his wife their word from God on an audio cassette tape. He gave me his address and I hung up the phone.

Feeling some relief, I exhaled, and then it hit me; what did I just do? I told the man I would record their word from God on a cassette tape and mail it to them. How was I going to do this? Fear just climbed all over me, so I quickly began to pray. All of sudden, the Holy Spirit firmly said to me, “You either hear me or you don’t!” I knew this was a breaking point for me. I had to either believe or disbelieve that I could hear His voice. The decision I made is obvious, or you would not be reading this article.

The next day I began to seek God for a word for this couple, and I was praying harder than ever, the whole time I am wrestling with the thought I have to get this right or I could mess these people’s lives up. The pressure was extremely intense. What if I was wrong? What would they do to me? Finally, I had the words recorded; I only needed to mail the tape. As I stood in front of the mail slot at the post office, my fingers did not want to let go of the package holding the cassette tape. Eventually, I let go of the package and thought to myself, “well, this is either God or someone needs to stick a fork in me, because I am done.” That day, I officially became a Mail Order Prophet, and, my, how things have changed over the past 23+ years!

Getting back to my business, I forgot all about the ad until I was home for lunch and noticed the light flashing on my telephone recorder. As I strained to listen to the hysterical man on the recording, it was very difficult to understand what he was saying; however, I did manage to clearly hear him say that he had received the word on the audio cassette tape and his pastor would be calling me soon. Once again fear struck me, and all I could think about was how bad I was going to be chewed out and what if he calls my pastor. The very next day Pastor Gill Hawks from Rockwall, Texas called and he…(To be continued next Saturday).

What a good God we serve who doesn’t treat us like slaves telling us to go here and there and do this and that! He gives us wisdom and discernment, his word, nudging by the spirit, and sometimes a direct command. In our present vernacular, we would say He keeps us “in the loop”. We are trusted with information that sometimes, we could even use for harm. His omnipotence would mean He knew that too, and yet He trusts us anyway. That tells me that even if we fail the trust test, our Father believes in us. Just as an earthly father hands over the car keys knowing that the child must grow up, so does our Father in Heaven. And if we wreck the car…his insurance is excellent!

Dear Kent,

Today I was at the interview with the mayor here in the city and immediately got the phone-call that they want to employ me and I have the job, Hallelujah!

I mean, I am 48 years old and its hard here to get a job in such position and such place. It is truly God’s answer that He opened that door. It’s not yet clear if the salary will work out – I will know it after another talk until Friday; they don’t want to pay so much more, at least they must pay me the same amount that I have now so that I can pay everything every month that is needed.

Kent, that is a real surprise to me and I thank you for the accurate word from October 2010 and from last week to really confirm that surprise once again, after I could not believe anymore to find a new job in a better place.

It was frustrating but now I see that God prepared me in a difficult place for the past 2 years. It’s exactly as you saw it. And thank you so much for the help concerning the beginning there that could be not so easy with certain people. So by that I know how to handle the other people.

I am very grateful for your prayers and God’s word that came in the time when I really needed much confirmation or encouragement.

What are the characteristics of someone who is called spiritual? Confusingly some would define one who is religiously pious as being spiritual. Others may determine that a person who condemningly quotes scriptures and acts strangely authoritative as being spiritual. When Jesus encountered the spiritual leaders in His day He found them walking around with phylacteries (boxes and ribbons) strapped to their foreheads and arms. By the size of one’s box and length of his ribbons determined the measure and depth of his spirituality for all to see. Needless to say Jesus was not impressed and frequently rebuked them.

Pastor Kent,

The word you sent me was so timely. I listen to it every night; it gives me such peace and makes me joyful to know God so loves me and my family. I am so excited with what God is doing, I have already seen the favor over my daughter’s life and mine. My health is almost perfect… I feel so good and look good too! My husband took her to the college of her choice last weekend for a visit. She came back glowing and said that is where she wants to be. We experienced such favor there, we are expecting by faith that the doors are open!

My parents and my sister are so blessed by the prophetic word you sent me and they plan to send and see what God is saying regarding their lives. I also plan to send next month to hear the word of God over my younger children.

Kent thank you for your obedience and love that you have for Gods people. I am so overjoyed that God led me to you. I pray for you and your ministry everyday. I ask God to pour into you and provide you with rest and peace over all that he is doing in your life.

Chapter 11: A Baby Named Jackson

Dear Readers,

All glory to the Lord Jesus Christ as we celebrate His Resurrection on this day! I know most of you will be in festive mode as you read this, and in keeping with the celebration of our Lord’s Triumph, today’s article is pretty lively and light-hearted.

I pause to reflect and rejoice!

Jesus said to her, “I AM the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die….”

John 11:25

Please know that today’s “dream story” is dedicated in all seriousness to our Lord and HIS love of crafting every detail in our lives to make the point of just how much He loves us and just how much He has been there all along, with our destiny very much on His mind. May the Lord continue to open our hearts to see and hear HIM who is the Resurrection and the LIFE.

Chapter 11: A Baby Named Jackson

Last week’s installment left off as Kent was in the midst of counseling me to “come clean” with my husband J.R. as regards my secret training in the prophetic. As a starting point for establishing communication, Kent asked me how J.R. heard from God, and I replied that J.R. has always dreamed meaningful dreams. I rattled on, contrasting my own shadowy dreams to J.R.’s trilogies and epics.

Suddenly Kent said three words, then stopped: “John Paul Jackson.”

“Who? Who’s that?” The name was not familiar.

“Streams Ministries,” came his dry reply. “I have an old binder with some materials on dream interpretation. I’ll send it to you.”

He didn’t explain further; it would be up to me to pursue it as the Lord led. Kent is a man of his word, and sure enough a package arrived about a week later.

The binder cover sported a faded graphic printed with these words: “Prophetic Reformation Ministry; Streams of Shiloh; Revelatory Library, Volume One.” It consisted of a collection of articles, mostly dating from 1993 and 1994, on a variety of topics with just enough information to whet the appetite for further study.

I skimmed it quickly. Looking for content that might be of interest to JR, I located the section on dream interpretation. I found an article which was entitled “Interpreting a Dream” (Vol. 2, Issue 7). There were some entertaining case histories, with John Paul’s interpretations. One in particular caught my eye:

“This dream was submitted by a 40 year-old pastor’s wife: “I had a dream that I had a fourth child….In this dream, I…had totally forgotten about the baby.” Then John Paul delved into the process of interpretation. In the section entitled “Define the content of the dream”, John Paul wrote:

“In fact the baby was never found. Why? Because the baby is symbolic of an immature gift that God had given her some years earlier. It was unknowingly discarded.”

This was another “whoa!” moment for me. True, I had never taken the time to allow the Holy Spirit to help me to remember my dreams. JR had enough dreams to keep both of us busy, anyway. But I DID remember a handful of my dreams as clear as day, and one of them I had never forgotten was about a mysterious BABY.

This BABY dream dated back to 1984 when I was expecting my second child. I dreamed I had a brand new baby boy, and in this dream I proudly carried him in my arms everywhere, showing him to my family and friends. No one seemed to like his name, or his looks. He was not as handsome as my first-born, Jordan. In fact, this new baby was a bit “pug-ugly.” But I loved him. The baby’s name was…Jackson.

When I woke after this startlingly realistic dream, on that autumn day in 1984, naturally I told my J.R. that I dreamed I was going to have a boy named Jackson. He laughed, then he argued. He didn’t like the name, either. “Why Jackson? There’s no one in the family named Jackson.”

“It’s going to be a boy, and I need to name him Jackson.” I was unshakeable. This dream was REAL. This dream was unforgettable and crafted like TV documentary footage.

J.R. backed down. “Ok…well, “Jackson Boye”. I guess it’s like “Jackson Browne”. I could get used to it.” He knew I was adamant. As Zacharias had received the name of John the Baptist from the angel, so my child’s name had been foretold in the womb.

I proceeded to carry the REAL baby to full term, and in 1985 Lord blessed us with a daughter, Jillian. Now I loved Jillian, but where was Jackson?

I was confused. I thought the dream meant I was supposed to have another son named Jackson.

Obsessing over this dream for years, I tried to figure out its meaning. (Praying more would have helped-as I have learned!) Anyway, in 1992, we moved to a house near Jackson Park, in Mountain View, California, and I noted it as a partial confirmation. Meanwhile time passed. My allotment from the Lord stood at two kids, neither of whom was named Jackson.

Case closed-or so I thought, till the day I opened this binder from Kent.

According to this Jackson, a dream “BABY is symbolic of an immature gift that God had given…some years earlier.” Got it! Finally. Thank you, Lord.

So my 1984 dream had been about an immature GIFT that I was carrying, not a literal baby. It was the prophetic gift that was pug-ugly! Makes sense! And the family and friends in the dream didn’t like or understand the baby/gift. Hmm. Rejected by family and friends. Check and double check. Though I had prayed for the gift of prophecy in 1983, it did not surface meaningfully until 2008. 25 years made for a rather long gestation period!! The Lord displayed His brilliant sense of fun revealing it ahead of time to this self-confessed non-dreamer! And at long last, J.R. and I began to discuss what had been going on with me, prophetically speaking. J.R.’s interest in the prophetic has been growing steadily ever since. I wrote this email to Kent:

Thank you for this, Prophet Simpson!

To me,

Our God can be a Character at times.

Well, it wasn’t long before I sent for John Paul’s course, “The Art of Hearing God”, which I heartily recommend to anyone interested in the prophetic. I also signed up for the online prophetic exercises on a companion website called “Stir the Water”.

For many weeks I pursued the lessons, until late in ’09 when I took the final test and received a certificate.

I am not selling or promoting anything. This is just my testimony of how the Lord made fantastic connections, as only He can, speaking to me and leading me in a way I could understand. All glory to God!

During this same summer of ’09, the Holy Spirit led me into a season of inner healing and prayer. There was much pleading the blood of Jesus and breaking off generational curses in Jesus’ Name, repenting of everything and really delving deeper in intimacy with the Lord and reaffirming His Lordship in my life. This went on for several weeks, and there were some intense times with the Lord, really more intense than I had ever experienced in my life. At the time, I did not have the closeness of relationship with people in my local church to share these things. I do not place blame for that on anyone. The Lord sorts all of this out as we grow in HIM. So I prayed healing prayers over myself. Eventually I met other believers who led me into deeper sozo experiences.

The Lord sent some unexpected results from this period of healing, in which I definitely experienced a more radical breaking off the darkness and inviting in the Kingdom of the Lord than I had ever known. One day I was in the middle of giving a violin lesson, zoning out just a little as the student sawed away, and something strange happened.

I hope to pick up here next week, Lord willing.

Dear TY,

I just want to thank you again for sharing your life and the stories about how God has started to train you to hear his voice. I have a questions? Does God speak to everyone the same way? and when we pray for God to open our ears to allow us to hear His voice. I prayed to hear from God and to hear His voice since the age of three. To be able to hear His voice like my grandmother did and my mother did, who both have recently passed on to be with Him. I desired to Hear His Voice so badly for so many years and constantly prayed that prayer for so many years. I even thought maybe I am not special enough to hear His voice. I ask God please let me hear your voice, that is all I want more than anything or anyone. To be close to you, to feel your presence. I want this more than money or wealth, more than my own life. I prayed that for years. The desire began to pray this prayer started at age 3 and now I am almost 38 years old. It is still my hearts desire, and it hurts so much not knowing why I can not hear His voice or not knowing if I asked something wrong, or I am not like you, who God sees as special. I question and ask, what can I do more of to get you to answer this request?

I really want to hear the voice of God, and to know that it is Him that I am really hearing.
